THE Swamp Farmers Association Inc. (SFAI) and the Benguet Engineering District of the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH-BED) have reached a settlement to resolve issues that caused delays on a flood control project in Barangay Betag, La Trinidad, Benguet.

SFAI President Peter Bulangen said the conditions and demands of the group were settled during a dialogue last week.

Bulangan said it was agreed upon that no strawberry farmer would be displaced during the implementation of the project.

He also said that the project implementers of a flood control project agreed to give farmers access to the water source and the possibility of constructing an additional water filtration system within the area.

The SFAI earlier wrote a letter to DPWH-BED appealing for the termination and transfer of the implementation of the flood control project to other areas because it would cause displacement and loss of livelihood for the strawberry farmers.
