THEY all paid their last respects. VP Leni followed by President Bongbong and former president Digong in the afternoon. All in one day. And thousands more from all walks of life.

Speaks highly well of the man and his leadership through all these years. National mourning as declared by Malacañang was befitting with tributes from everywhere, including ambassadors from countries all over the world.

Now, he shall finally enjoy his long needed rest. You've done so many books already and I'm lucky to have half of them. Rest in peace, Boss. We shall miss you a lot. Thanks again for giving me all the breaks, the teachings, and never to give up.

I'm sure you were thrilled when we won the first Olympic gold in Tokyo. You knew you made the right choice when you appointed me PSC Commissioner in 1994. That's 28 years ago. That's why I'll join you in your last mile on Tuesday.

This time I'll be the one taking the photos and I'll do the Ramos jump when we put you down on your sacred ground in Libingan ng mga Bayani. You're truly a hero to us. Godspeed, Boss Tabako.

Kudos to PBA Chairman Ricky Vargas

For making sure we won't be embarrassed for the FIBA World Cup next year by making everyone in the PBA Board cooperate in forming the national five.

He spent so much time with every PBA team owner. Hurray! Not a KSP who's fond of the camera and taking the credit for everyone, he delegated PBA Commissioner Willie Marcial to do the long awaited decision to face media and announce the good news, including the loss of one whole PBA conference next year just to concentrate on forming a genuine national basketball team and a united coaching staff after all these pandemic years.

By the way, why don't the PBA Board and the SBP Board decide also on the coaching chores to be fair to all? Why only the players? Chot is noble not to resign for country's sake when he's called to stay on but in fairness to him, so he doesn't get blamed later in case a debacle happens, (God forbid) he should also make the supreme sacrifice to step aside.

This new unified group plus the triumvirate of MVP, Vargas and Panlilio should decide unanimously on the coaching staff. I'm sure my friends Tim Cone or Leo Austria, will not turn their backs on this national quest, now that the team is truly a NATIONAL team and not handpicked.

And just like before, let's have the try outs open to the public to make it more interesting.
