AGRICULTURE Senior Undersecretary Domingo Panganiban has tested positive for coronavirus disease (Covid-19).

Officials from the Department of Agriculture confirmed to The Manila Times that Panganiban is now in isolation after he acquired the virus.

Panganiban was supposed to attend a meeting in Malacanang last Tuesday when he received the result of his RT-PCR test informing him that he acquired the virus.

As a result, Panganiban also missed the Opening Ceremony of the Livestock Philippines at the World Trade Center in Pasay City on Wednesday. He was represented by DA Assistant Secretary Arnel De Mesa who delivered the speech.

Panganiban even held a press conference last Tuesday hours before the release of his positive RT-PCR test.

Employees of the DA who were exposed to Panganiban were required to undergo the antigen test.

According to the source, Panganiban continues to perform his duties while in isolation.

Panganiban recently took his oath as senior undersecretary of the DA following the resignation of former undersecretary Leocadio Sebastian who resigned over the controversial foiled importation of 300,000 metric tons of sugar.

Panganiban previously served as secretary of the agency. He was appointed in 2001 during the time of former president Joseph Estrada and in 2005 under former president Gloria Macapagal Arroyo.
