ORANI, Bataan: Police on Monday reported an alleged accidental firing that resulted in the death of the chief of police in Pilar, Bataan.

Bataan police identified the victim as Maj. Rizaldy Rubio, 43, a resident of Barangay Tapulao, Orani, Bataan. The attending physician declared the victim dead on arrival at the Orani District Hospital early Monday morning.

According to the police, they received a call from May Rubio, wife of the victim, telling them that she heard a gunshot outside their room. She also stated that she saw her husband with a gunshot wound on the right side of the abdomen and rushed him to the hospital.

The victim's wife, who is also a member of the Philippine National Police with the rank of chief master sergeant, claimed that her husband was alone in the room when she heard the gunshot.

She also hinted that the shooting might have been accidental.
