THE Magnolia Hotshots are bringing in an import who can match the energy and intensity of Calvin Abueva.

Nick Rakocevic, who played for Serbia's under-20 squad and saw action recently in China, will be the reinforcement of the Hotshots in the coming PBA Commissioner's Cup set to begin on September 21.

In getting an import, head coach Chito Victolero selected Rakocevic from among the six candidates in the list.

"Based on the full game he had while playing in China, he has a similar level of activity of a Calvin Abueva," Victolero told The Manila Times. "I think he's a good fit for us."

The 24-year-old, former University of Southern California Trojan averaged 15.3 points, 11.8 rebounds and 2.8 blocks while leading his team's production for one season.

"He's not flashy. But he gets the job done. He's not a heavy scorer, but he has good offensive skills. He can play inside and out," added Victolero.

Magnolia, which made it to the Final Four in the Philippine Cup, is hoping Rakocevic would be the right choice as the import will have to score more than usual, especially with Jio Jalalon still recovering from a hamstring injury.
