LA TRINIDAD, Benguet: Seventeen drug personalities were arrested while over P685,662 worth of marijuana plants was destroyed by combined police operatives and anti-narcotics agents on week-long anti-drug operations in the region.

Citing records from the Regional Operations Division of the Cordillera police, Baguio City Police Office recorded the highest number of arrests with 11 drug personalities followed by the Benguet Police Provincial Office (PPO) with five arrested drug personalities, and Abra PPO with one arrested.

In Baguio City, those arrested were identified as Philip Recile, 40; Alanzar Valencia, 45; Rene Boy Enriquez, 29; Rommel Alvarez, 30; Jefferson Reyes, 30; Ariel Bañaga, 42; Jimmy Presto, 39; Tristan Michael Labo, 39; Alvin Dumaguing, 32; Reagan Vero, 32; and Ronald Rodriguez, 34.

In Benguet, the arrested personalities were identified as David Gallano, 65; Quirino Cuytop, 59; David Matias, 28; Ricky Ku, 55; and Adrian Wabe, 18.

In Abra, 53-year-old Jean Mailed was nabbed for drug-related charges.

The separate anti-illegal drugs operation resulted in the seizure of 12.11 grams of suspected shabu with a standard drug price of P82,348 and the confiscation of a total of 5,055 grams of dried marijuana leaves worth P606,662.

All arrested suspects are now facing charges for violating Republic Act 9165 or the "Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002."

Meanwhile, the continuous marijuana eradication operations by the Cordillera provincial police have destroyed 100 fully grown marijuana plants and 1,300 marijuana seedlings in Benguet with an estimated value of P72,000.

In another police operation in Ifugao, 35 fully grown marijuana plants with a street retail price of P7,000 were also destroyed.
