POLICE arrested on Tuesday a man who allegedly hacked to death his father-in-law and his godfather in Alamada town, North Cotabato.

Maj. Bryan Espinoza, Alamada town police chief, identified the suspect as Richel Nikor.

According to a report, the suspect hacked his victims with a machete on Monday afternoon after accusing them of practicing "witchcraft."

The victims were identified as Rolando Salcedo, 56, and Felix Arigola, 70, both of Barangiran village, Alamada.

Nikor is Salcedo's son-in-law, while Arigola stood as godfather during the suspect's wedding several years ago.

Initial police reports showed that Salcedo and the suspect had been at odds over the latter's drinking habit and for being jobless.

Espinoza said he also spoke to the suspect, who allegedly had mental issues.

"We are still trying to determine if he was indeed mentally disturbed," Espinoza said.

Nikor is now detained at the Alamada police station while awaiting murder charges before the prosecutor's office.
