COTABATO CITY: More than 40 Bangsamoro farmers from the Municipality of Barira and Matanog in Maguindanao underwent training on vegetable production under the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Agrarian Reform (Mafar) Gender and Development Program on August 23 to 26. The said training was focused on pumpkin planting, where Senior Agriculturist Ramil Timpolok and Agriculturist 2 Edris Kasabican served as resource speakers. The resource speakers shared different methods and strategies for vegetable production and how to maintain and protect them against diseases caused by insecticides. Actual demonstrations and how to correctly use equipment were also done during the training. After the training, the participants received vegetable seeds and planting equipment. Moreover, Ayah Alih, one of the farmer-beneficiaries, expressed her gratitude to Mafar for giving them the knowledge that will help them grow their vegetables and for providing them with equipment that could ease their agricultural activity.
