There's no way but up for ABS-CBN's virtual reality competition "Bida Star" as its new season promises bigger challenges and greater returns for aspiring artists.
One of the new additions to the show is its host Benedix Ramos who is poised to add new character to show, along with Bida Star's recurring hosts Karina Bautista and Anji Salvacion. All three young stars are "Pinoy Big Brother" alumni.
Aptly called "Bida Star Versus," the fifth season of the competition will see male contestants going against female contestants to determine the next Ultimate Bida Star.

"'Bida Star Versus' allows anyone to be part of the contest kahit hindi ka part ng kahit anong talent agency or wala kang formal training. They will hone your talents. Bida Star Versus will help you reach your artista dreams," said Ramos in a virtual media conference.
Relating to his new role as a host, Ramos is a proof that the craft can be learned. Although hosting is something new to him, the social media star turned reality show contestant is determined to try all facets of the local biz.
"I am happy to be part of the show. Honestly, super enjoy ako sa hosting kasi isa siya sa mga skills ko na gusto ko pang mahasa as I go stay longer in the industry," Ramos said.
Meanwhile, Karina Bautista — who has been hosting the competition since its inaugural season — guaranteed that Bida Star has leveled up and widened its reach through different digital platforms such as kumu, Facebook, and Tiktok in order to cater to more dreamers.
"Bawat Bida Star season nagle-level up talaga. Aside from the battle between the contestants, this season, the viewers should also watch out for Live Callbacks, wherein the first batch of Male and Female auditionees will perform on Kumu. The top earning Male and Female auditionee will get a guaranteed spot in the top 40," the host explained.
There are also Bida Challenges, themed challenges uploaded by the contestants to their respective Tiktok accounts and are equivalent to a certain amount of vote points. Finally, Salvacion — who became Bida Star host from the previous season — encouraged aspiring stars to take the first step and give their all.
"If you don't start now, when? Right now, has never happened before, and now will never come again. Just believe in yourself and take that first step. Kasi marami ang nangarap pero takot sila mag take ng step. This is a sign to take that step," the singer-actress stressed.
The contestants are in for an exciting journey what with a lineup of stellar judges, including, Star Magic Workshops Head and Acting Mentor Rahyan Carlos; unit head of "Pinoy Big Brother" Marcus Vinuya; and a weekly celebrity guest judge from Star Magic.
The Bida Star winner will win an ABS-CBN management contract, Star Magic Workshop Scholarship, guesting in other ABS-CBN digital shows, a chance to have a project with PIE channel, and a cash prize of P50,000.
For the past four seasons, "Bida Star" Star has fulfilled the dreams of young and talented Filipinos like Dustine Mayores, a former "PBB" kumunity teen housemate, and Ruth Paga, who is now a regular host on PIE. Watch out for the intense competition on "Bida Star Versus" starting this September 5 on Star Hunt's kumu and Facebook account.
