At least six hostages, including two Filipinos, were killed after Algerian military forces stormed a gas facility there in an effort to free some 40 hostages who were being held by an Islamist militant group, reports said on Friday.

The Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA), however, could not verify the accuracy of the information as details about the violent attempt to raid the gas field by the Algerian military were “sketchy.”
